I love fashion, and so do you. I always dreamed of attending a fashion show or being a part of a fashion event. I love styling people, but some of you prefer to design, some like to model, and for others, it's makeup.

Instead of sitting and just dreaming, why not turn your upcoming birthday party into a fashion event you've always dreamed of and have fun while exploring your interests and passions.

I keep myself in your place and write this article. So, let's put together a memorable birthday bash. Whether it's your milestone birthday or you're adding yet another year to your age, you can always have a big birthday bash. This article is a complete guide on how to throw a fashion show-themed birthday party. Let's get started.

A guest list

Start planning and preparing for your big party with a guest list. This will eliminate a lot of confusion and last-minute chaos. The guest list will come in handy while deciding the venue, ordering or preparing the food, and sending out invitations.

Select your venue

When I say a venue, it need not always be a fancy party hall. Of course, you can rent one if you like, but it can be your house, your lawn, or by a poolside in your best friend's house. Make sure your venue is large enough to accommodate all your guests.

Getting your venue party ready

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I say “Fashion show”? It would be a ramp or designer clothes. A fashion show-themed party would be incomplete without an actual fashion show and ramp walk. For the ramp, you can assemble a stage at the centre of your venue, preferably, or a suitable place of your choice, and cover it with a carpet. If this is not possible, don’t worry at all. You can simply roll out a carpet on a sturdy surface and arrange the chairs on either side of your ramp.

Okay, the major attraction of your party is now ready. Let's move on to the background décor. You can use a shimmery or sequin backdrop. If you are having an outdoor party, you can choose pastel colored decor that goes well with your venue, or you can use vibrant colored ones for your indoor party. This is just a suggestion, and it's totally up to you. After all, it is your big party. You can also use some shimmery or sheer clothing material to create beautiful drapes for decoration. Also, don’t forget to get a table decorated for placing the cake.

If you are having an evening party, you can enhance your decoration further with some fancy lighting. You can rent out some party lights and give your event an extra shine.

Planning the events

Since this is a fashion show-themed birthday party, cake cutting, music, and dance are not the only events you can plan. The fashion show can be the star of the event. Make a clear itinerary of all your events so your guests can plan accordingly.

Planning for the fashion show

This can be fun even when planning. Gather all your close friends and family who are interested in taking part in the fashion show. Brainstorm and decide on a theme for the show, such as Retro, classic, Hollywood, divine glamour, etc. You can watch some fashion shows to learn and rehearse the ramp walk. Make a list of who walks after whom to streamline your show and make it professional.

Preparing for the show

After selecting a theme, the next step is to get the dresses ready for the show. There are many options for this. You can make your costumes, or rent out themed costumes, or everyone can come in their best ever outfit. It depends on what you and your friends want.

You can also divide teams among yourself, like

A costume team – the one that handles making, collecting, or renting out the dresses

A styling team - who take care of the accessories, shoes, bags, etc.

A makeup team - to be in charge of all the makeup needs for the participants.

A hairstylist team - to help your participants do a hairstyle.

The backstage team - coordinates the participants during the show.

This is a great way to have fun together as a team and not take the burden of doing it all by yourself.

Photography

Photography is an important part of any event. It is a lifelong reminder of the times we have enjoyed. Especially, a fashion event is not complete without photographers and flashing lights.

Whether you plan to hire a professional photographer or ask your friend or a family member for a favor, it is important to click quality pictures. It will be better if you can have minimum two people to cover your event.

You can have one photographer cover the entrance and another inside. You can also have them teach some poses to your guests to capture some glam images.

Music/DJ

The classic companion of any event. If your budget permits, you can hire a professional DJ; if you cannot, don’t worry at all, you can have a personally curated playlist for your party. You can use the paid service of any music app to create your playlist. These apps also have premade playlists for many events, which you can use.

Food and cake

First, let's talk about one of the important parts of your birthday party – the cake. If you are planning to get a customized cake, you can let your creativity decide the colour and design of your cake. But if you are getting a pre-made plain birthday cake, you can buy fashion-themed cake toppers that are commercially available beforehand so that you can easily decorate your cake before the event.

Regarding food, you can serve some mini hamburgers, mini pizzas like the ones at big fashion events. And instead of serving a boring lemonade, you can set up a mini mocktail bar where your guests can get customized and colorful mocktails.

Invitation

After you have planned and done some basic preparations for your birthday party, you can start inviting your guests. For that, you can do more than just a phone call. You can have your customized invitation that looks similar to a VIP pass to a fashion event printed, or if you are a DIY person, you can even make handwritten invitations.

Mention the date, time, venue, and dress code, if any, for your party. You can also write or print the itinerary of your event to give a heads up to your guests. You can also make a digital invitation with the many free apps available.

Send out your invitation well in advance for your guests to plan and free up their calendars.

If you want to add some extra fun…

You can add an evergreen photobooth or, if you like to stick with the trend 360-degree revolving photo and video booth for your guests to have more fun. There are so many options for this category like cotton candy making, DIY jewellery making, face painting etc.,

Return favors

After your fun-filled fashion-themed birthday bash, you do not want to send your guests empty-handed. Your return favor can also be something that goes with your theme, like a sewing kit, an everyday fashion guide, some handmade jewellery etc.,

Finally, I think we covered everything necessary for a perfect birthday party. Now put on your birthday dress and get ready to walk the ramp and blow some candles. Enjoy your birthday and make some beautiful memories with your friends and family…

Toodles……..
