The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, introducing notable changes in both team composition and leadership roles.

Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami makes a significant return to the squad after recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him for over a year. Shami's last international appearance was during the 2023 ICC World Cup final against Australia.

In a strategic move, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain, serving as deputy to captain Rohit Sharma. This decision underscores the selectors' confidence in Gill's leadership potential.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant retains his position in the squad, reaffirming the selectors' faith in his abilities. Pant's inclusion comes despite his omission from the recent T20 series against England.

The squad also features the return of spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has recovered from a groin injury, and the inclusion of young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal, poised to make his ODI debut. India's campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to commence on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai.
